Community Group Sponsorship
The 5 Community Based Organisations (CBO's) supported by the Likulezi Project are comprised of unpaid village volunteers who have formed themselves into 14 groups (4 or 5 Groups per CBO) and are trained in various skills in order to support the community in which they live. These volunteers share the same circumstances (poverty and disease) as the beneficiaries they serve.
Objectives
Support given to beneficiaries within the catchment area of the group.
Training provided to the Group;
Material support needed by the Group in order to carry out activities
Each group carries out an evaluation annually to assist them to focus on priorities.
Each group networks with other organisations on a regular basis for sharing and learning.
Each group have formed their own choir.
Sponsorship of a (CBO) community based organisation which includes 3 community groups costs €6000 per year.
Sponsorship of a commjunity care group costs €2000 per year.
If your business or organisation decides to sponsor a CBO or a group, (average number of volunteers per group is between 20-30), you will receive details of the CBO/group. Visits to the CBO/group and to the project are most welcome and indeed encouraged. Accommodation can be provided at the Likulezi Project Centre. Please see contact page for contact details. - To support the groups in their work.
- To support the beneficiaries in the catchment area of the groups (sick households, orphans, etc.)

- Patients on Home Care Programme (approx. 100 patients per Group).
- Orphans on Orphan Support Scheme (approx. 10 Families per Group).
- Villages and primary schools receive AIDS education through the medium of drama, dance, choral singing, puppet shows & question and answer sessions from the Group members
- Each group has a literacy school within its own catchment area; a member of the group is in the teaching position
- Each group has a borehole or hopes to have one. Supervision of the borehole is carried out by the members of the group.

- Bicycles and repair of same
- Goats in pass-on scheme
- Stationary
- Revolving loan fund for members (to start income generation activity)
- Bicycle ambulance
